Bathroom Makeover. One Room Challenge Spring 2021-Week 7

The countdown has officially started for the reveal, and I can’t wait to show you this guest bathroom!

This week has brought some ups and downs but finally had some really good progress. Let me give you a recap, first the good news.

The tile is finally installed and it looks beautiful. I don’t want to ruin the reveal so won’t be sharing much but let me tell you it looks so good! The room feels so luxurious and much bigger than before. The lightness of the room really came through and I couldn’t be happier. The grout proved to be a bit more challenging in the end and required some extra work to remove from the tiles. Don’t really understand why it stuck so much to the tile, maybe it was because of the matte finish but I definitely had some stressful hours when we couldn’t figure out how to remove the grout that was left after wiping it off.

Also, the toilet and vanity have been installed and look amazing. really loved the vanity I found at LOWES. It required little assembly and the sink is so beautiful, I will link all the products in the reveal if you are interested in any of them. Without hesitation my favorite product is the faucet. The matte black and shape are so slick I keep finding myself going to this bathroom all the time to wash my hands. I am really happy with the gold trim as well, it complements the design on the walls.

On the not-so-good news, the shower panel has proven to be the last piece and hardest to install. The corner where the tub meets the wall is not square, making the installation of the glass panel impossible with clips. I did however ask the panel manufacturer if they had any suggestions and recommended a U link channel instead of the clips to work with the gap between the tub and the panel. I am really hoping this link arrives in time before the reveal so I can finish in time.

This project has definitely kept me on my toes and I am so grateful to have learned so much during the process. Using existing fixtures and pieces of a bathroom is way harder than starting from scratch or a demo. But hardship brings experience, and I am all for learning and growing.
